| Name: | Mr. Jones {Ianto Jones} |

In one life, Ianto Jones moved from Cardiff to London, crossed paths with the wrong woman one night, and was inexorably drawn into Torchwood. In another...he got there by a different road.
Rather than being ensnared by Yvonne Hartman, Ianto crossed paths with a lovely young woman named Rose Tyler. Someone who understood his rough upbringing, his high aspirations...his darker impulses. With her, he could better fight them--with her, he was a better man.
Falling in love with Rose was as inevitable as breathing--and then the day came when he arrived. The Doctor.
Of course he let her go--how could he not? The hypocrisy would be galling: had he the chance to break free and see the universe himself, she'd let him in a heartbeat. It hurt, and he missed her, but he loved her. God, how he loved his Rose.
So he stayed behind. Took care of Jackie...and one day, when he heard those engines again, they were there for him this time.
What little resentment he might have had for the Doctor couldn't survive in the face of knowing him better. Being trusted to help with things like the Slitheen were an honor, and the rewards for his aid...nothing could compare. World War II, feudal Japan, galaxies and aliens and wonders beyond imagining, Ianto could live the rest of his life in London or even Cardiff, God help him, and be content knowing he had seen things.
Then it all went wrong. They were taken by the Game Station controller, they were faced with the Daleks...and Ianto was chagrined by how relieved he was by Rose's departure. He knew she probably hated them both, of course, but at least she was alive. Ianto could live without here, if he could live in a world she was still in. Or...well, he knew he wasn't going to live.
He was ready to die to save everything.
...and then he did.
And then he woke up.
And then he watched the TARDIS vanish before his eyes, abandoning him to his fate--a fate worse than any that could have been imagined.
Eternity.
